Rachael Addis
Abstract Multitude.
“Rachael’s paintings seek to establish a contemplative and meditative aspect both for the viewer and for herself.”
Inspired by abstract expressionist painters, Rachael’s signature practice encompasses a multitude of painted layers and patterns to create beautiful environmental landscapes. As a contemporary artist, Rachael wishes for her art to underpin the philosophy behind the techniques used to create her work.
Philosophy is a huge inspiration for Rachael. Her time spent living in Hong Kong and Thailand introduced her to Zen Buddhism, and it’s influence upon abstract painters of the 1950s. Now living in Manchester, these cultural philosophies continue to shape her style and attitude to the painted surface.
Originally from the Lake District, Rachael studied locally at Manchester Metropolitan University and recently won “Manc of the Year”, a competition ran by arts organisation Cotton On MCR. Her new abstract pieces are only here for a limited time, so be sure to drop in and admire this season.
